On March 7 LIBER’s EU Project Manager Melanie Imming will chair a panel at the Innovation Workshop of the PREFORMA Project in Padua.
The PREFORMA project works on one of the main challenges memory institutions are facing nowadays: the long-term preservation of digital data. This issue is also important for LIBER’s community. LIBER has therefore been collaborating with PREFORMA to encourage memory institutions to answer a survey on this topic. The outcomes of this survey will fuel this panel on the impact and sustainability of project outcomes and, in particular, of the tools developed in the PREFORMA project.
There are three main aims for the workshop:
- Highlight the importance of standardisation and file format validation for the long term preservation of digital cultural content;
- Present the open source conformance checkers developed in the project, and the business models that can be built around them;
- Involve memory institutions outside the PREFORMA consortium in testing, using and further developing the software.
